Welcome to the New AAS Member Portal

Dear Association for Asian Studies Community,

We are very pleased to announce the launch of our new AAS member portal:

This new platform offers a more intuitive, user-friendly interface for AAS members and provides us with the flexibility to grow in the future. We invite you to log in now.

First, Reset Your Password or Create an Account

If you are a current AAS member, or have been one (or attended our Annual Conference) within the past seven (7) years, our staff has already created an account for you in the new member portal. However, the login credentials used at our previous MyAAS site will not work at this one. You will need to reset your password.

Please visit our new login page and select “Click here to reset your password” (See Figure 1, below) Enter the email address associated with your AAS member account (Figure 2). You will then receive a message with a link and instructions to create a new password. (If you do not see the email in your inbox within 15 minutes, please check your spam/junk folder, as the message might have been redirected there.)

If you enter your email address and the system tells you, “Your email address does not match any of our records” (Figure 3, above) the issue could stem from several different reasons:

  • You are entering an old or incorrect email address and the system cannot find its match in our database. Please double-check the information you’ve entered and try any prior email addresses that might have been listed on your AAS account. If you cannot remember your old address, or if you’ve changed email addresses and no longer have access to your old account, please write to info@asianstudies.org for assistance.
  • It has been more than seven (7) years since you were active with the AAS. In moving from one database to another, accounts that had been dormant for more than seven (7) years were not migrated. You will need to create a new account.
  • You are a patron/lifetime member. Unfortunately, a glitch in migration has prevented some of our patron/lifetime members from accessing their new AAS accounts. Please contact Membership Manager Doreen Ilozor, dilozor@asianstudies.org, and she will assist you in resolving this issue.

Take a Tour of the Site!

My Profile — Click on “My Profile” and then select “Account” to verify your information and complete any missing fields. Add your preferred pronouns, choose whether to receive a print or digital copy of the Journal of Asian Studies, upload a profile photo and update your bio, and tell us whether you’d like to appear in the online member directory or not.

Membership — Use the “Membership” menu to join the AAS or renew your membership, or give the gift of membership to someone you know. Current AAS members can search the member directory, as well as access exclusive members-only benefits, such as valuable discounts on publications and the complete Journal of Asian Studies archive from 1941 to the present.

Events — (Coming Soon!) Register for our 2021 Virtual Annual Conference under the “Events” heading, where AAS members enjoy a discounted registration fee.

Events — In the future, the Events tab is also where you’ll find registration links for upcoming AAS Digital Dialogues—AAS members enjoy complimentary registration for this ongoing webinar series.

Education About Asia — Subscribe to the print edition of our teaching journal, Education About Asia (discounted AAS member rate available), and receive three issues a year filled with feature articles, pedagogical case studies, classroom resources, book and film reviews, and more.

Advertise, Exhibit & Sponsor — Under “Advertise, Exhibit & Sponsor” you’ll find opportunities to connect with AAS members by advertising in our print and digital publications, appearing in our Virtual Conference Exhibit Hall, or becoming a conference sponsor.

Donate Now — Make a donation and contribute to the AAS as it continues to fund new research, recognize top publications, support young and under-represented scholars, and develop new initiatives.

Donate Now — Pay dues or donate to an AAS committee in your sub-field to further the work of these important organizations.

Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions, suggestions, or comments regarding this new member portal. Email us at info@asianstudies.org and a Secretariat staff member will respond as quickly as possible.

As always—but most especially as this year draws to a close—we are so appreciative to have a strong community of members supporting the work of the AAS. Thank you.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I change my affiliation?

If you have moved to a new institution and would like to change the affiliation on your account, please go to “My Profile” and then click on the “Organizations” heading. You will see your existing affiliation(s) listed in a table (Figure 4, below)

To create a new affiliation, click on the green “Link Me to an Organization” button. A box will appear (Figure 5, above) and ask you to enter the name of your new school/institution/company (all called your “organization” in this system). Enter the name and click “search.”

If the organization already exists, there might be several variations on its name (ABC University, University of ABC, ABC U.) and/or sub-units (ABC University, Department of 123) in our system, and you’ll see a list of options (Figure 6, above). Choose the one that best fits your affiliation within the organization, or select “Not listed above” to create a new sub-unit.

If the organization search comes up empty, then the system will prompt you to create a new organization and enter its details.

Where is the AAS Job Board?

We are working on the creation of a new AAS Job Board that will be accessible via this new member portal, and we expect to launch that platform in early 2021. Until further notice, the Job Board will remain at the old MyAAS member site. Current AAS members can continue to log in there for Job Board access, using their old MyAAS username and password (NOT the email address/password combination used at this new member portal). We will make an announcement when we transition to the new AAS Job Board platform.

How do I vote in the Fall 2020 AAS Election?

Our Fall 2020 AAS Election continues until Tuesday, December 15. All current members of the association have been sent an email containing a special ballot access link and login credentials. Please follow that link and enter your special voting credentials to cast your ballot. If you did not receive the email, or cannot access the ballot, please contact Membership Manager Doreen Ilozor, dilozor@asianstudies.org, for assistance.
