Congratulations to AAS Member Nancy S. Steinhardt (University of Pennsylvania), who has been honored by the College Art Association with its Distinguished Teaching of Art History Award.

AAS Member Kenneth Pomeranz (University of Chicago) is co-winner of the prestigious Dan David Prize in the “Past” category for his work on the macro history of East Asia.

Longtime AAS Member Chi Wang has been recognized by Senator James Risch, Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, for his 47 years of service at the Library of Congress. Pre-registration for #AAS2019 in Denver, Colorado will close next Thursday, February 21. After a successful introduction of GREEN registration rates in Washington, D.C. earlier this year, we are pleased to offer them again in Denver. Those who GO GREEN will save $10 on their conference registration; they will NOT receive a copy of the print program.

The Asian Studies on the Pacific Coast (ASPAC) conference is accepting proposals until February 28 for its June 7-9, 2019 meeting at Saint Mary’s College of California. ASPAC also awards two graduate student paper prizes—one for work across the field of Asian Studies, the second specifically for Chinese Studies—and is accepting submissions to those competitions until May 1, 2019.
