War, Revolution, and the Heart of China, 1937-1948

“War, Revolution, and the Heart of China, 1937-1948,” an outstanding exhibition of 200 Chinese woodblock prints from 1930s and 1940s China will be on display at the Picker Art Gallery of Colgate University in Hamilton, NY, from September 19 to December 15, 2024. The complete inventory of the Herman Collection of Modern Chinese Woodcuts, acquired by Theodore Herman in the 1940s and donated to Colgate, will be on view. The Herman Collection is the most comprehensive collection of Chinese woodcuts of that era in the United States. The exhibit will be accompanied by a set of related events to be held on the Colgate campus.

Cope Family Papers Opening

Celebrating the ministry and legacy of J. Herbert & Elizabeth Smith Cope and the ministry of Chin Baptists in the United States. J. Herbert & Elizabeth Cope served as missionaries in the Chin Hills of Burma, 1908-1938. A collection of artifacts and photos was donated to ABHS in 1985 by A. Danforth Cope, their son, and a collection of family letters was recently donated by Penny & Bill Cutler, their granddaughter and her husband.
