The AAS offers many opportunities for graduate students attending and presenting at the Annual Conference. Below are the events and opportunities available in connection with the 2020 Conference in Boston.
Graduate Student Reception
Join us and 400+ of your fellow graduate students at this annual event, held on Thursday evening, March 19th. The AAS President and Executive Director will share information about AAS student-focused initiatives and the future of Asian Studies. Complimentary drinks and appetizers will be served. This event is open to ALL registered graduate students.

Graduate Student Stipends
For Graduate Student Panel Participants only. All graduate students are eligible to receive our graduate student stipend, according to the criteria listed below. There is no application required. Students on the formal program that meet the criteria below will receive a stipend of at least $200. The actual amount depends on the total number of eligible students.
To receive a graduate student stipend, you must …
1.) Register in the Student Member pre-registration category by the participant deadline of November 12, 2019.
2.) Reside more than 100 miles from the conference venue.
3.) Have not received other AAS funding, such as International Exchange Grants, etc.
Graduate Student Best Paper Prize
For Graduate Student Panel Participants only. Each year the Area Councils offer a best paper prize to graduate students presenting at the Annual Conference. Submission requirements and prize amounts vary by area council. For more information, view the Graduate Student Paper Prize webpage.
