AAS Accessibility Guide

The AAS is committed to providing an inclusive and accessible conference for all attendees.

Seattle Convention Center (SCC) Accessibility
The Seattle Convention Center (SCC) is an Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant facility.

  • Restrooms – The SCC’s family restrooms are located on Levels 4 and 5, and the unisex restroom is located on Level 4.
  • Service Animals – Only service dogs and miniature horses will be allowed
  • Wheelchairs – If you are need of a wheelchair, they can be rented locally from the companies listed on the Accessibility Guide

Quiet Rooms
A designated room will be provided for attendees seeking a secluded space free from the sounds and activity of the annual conference. Please silence your devices and refrain from talking on cell phones within this area. Room assignment and availability will post at a later date.

Nursing Mothers/Infant Changing Rooms
A Nursing Mothers/Infant Changing Room is available on level 6, in Suite C, next to the registration counters in the Seattle Convention Center.

Childcare
The AAS will offer full-time, professionally managed and staffed onsite childcare services for the 2024 Annual Conference in Seattle. For more information and to reserve space, view our website.

Virtual Sessions & Presentations
A variety of sessions and individual presentations will be available virtually for those unable to attend in person. The live and pre-recorded presentations will take place on March 1 and remain available through March 31.

Session Presentations/Copies of Paper presentations
Speakers will be encouraged to have written papers available to individuals requiring additional hearing accommodations. Due to privacy concerns, we cannot guarantee all speakers will have papers available for reading, but everyone will be encouraged to accommodate such requests.

Assistive Listening devices area also available on request.
Please contact AASConference@asianstudies.org by February 1, 2024, if you would like to request an interpreter or assistive listening devices. These are only available in the Convention Center.

If you need additional support to facilitate your full participation in the conference, please write to the Conference and Event Department and we will work to accommodate you.
