AAS2024 Annual Conference Press Policy

The AAS welcomes qualified members of the press to attend its 2024 Annual Conference, to be held March 14-17, 2024, at the Sheraton Grand Seattle and the Seattle Convention Center. Press passes entitle the bearer to attend any and all sessions held during the conference (open to attendees Thursday–Sunday). Qualified members of the press will also receive the Conference Program (and tote bag if available).

Press passes will be granted to professional journalists for the purpose of reporting on conference proceedings. Due to AAS’s nonprofit status and the need to conserve resource dollars, conference passes cannot be provided to those members of the press not on assignment. Press passes are nontransferable.

Reporters and writers must provide proof of credentials to receive a complimentary press badge. AAS reserves the right to grant press privileges to individuals on a case-by-case basis. Be prepared to present the following upon request:

  • A photocopy of official press credentials.
  • Professional journalists and editors, employed by media organizations: At least two recent and substantive bylined articles in relevant publications, websites, or blogs. The articles must clearly display authorship, and documentation of a specific assignment to cover the event. The documentation must include the assigning editor’s contact information.
  • Freelance journalists: Documentation of a specific assignment to cover the event for a relevant publication, website or blog. The documentation must include the assigning editor’s contact information.

Please be advised that complimentary press badge requests submitted without supporting documents and information will not be reviewed or approved. (Business cards or memberships cards from news media, communications, or writers organizations are not sufficient to establish eligibility.)

DEADLINE:

Please submit your request for a complimentary press badge by Friday, March 1th. Due to space and resource limitations, onsite registration is not permitted, unless prior approval is obtained. Only local media outlets will be considered for onsite registration on a case by case basis but must still supply the above credentials as requested.

RESTRICTIONS:

Individuals are required to obtain written approval from the AAS prior to filming, videotaping, or taking photographs. The recording of panel sessions or keynote address is strictly prohibited. AAS reserves the right to close some portions of events to the press, without advance notice.

The AAS does not provide an onsite press room.
