Call for Proposals: AAS 2025 Pre-Conference Workshops

The AAS 2025 Annual Conference Program Committee seeks proposal submissions for pre-conference workshops to be held next March in Columbus, Ohio. The goal of pre-conference workshops—a new addition to the AAS Annual Conference program for 2025—is to provide additional options for attendees outside of the busy conference schedule.

Pre-conference workshops will take place on Thursday, March 13, 2025 and will be scheduled from approximately 9:00am to 5:00pm that day (exact times are subject to change).

If you would like to plan and facilitate a workshop, please keep the following goals in mind. Workshop facilitators should:

  • Provide opportunities that focus on practical knowledge and build skills that can be implemented after the meeting.
  • Remain agile, listen, and react while using a variety of training approaches.
  • Augment teaching moments by guiding learners to their goals.
  • Indicate limits on the number of attendees. The recommended limit for publication and dissertation workshops is 8. The facilitators determine the number of participants at their discretion.

We are open to diverse topics. Possible workshop topics include:

  • Converting a seminar paper into an article
  • Publishing your dissertation
  • Interviewing for academic positions
  • Transforming your CV for alt-ac positions
  • Marketing your many selves: from academic to public servant
  • Publishing your first book
  • Publishing your second book
  • Public scholarship and practical impacts
  • Ethics in ethnographic methodology
  • AI and higher education
  • Strategic networking for the introvert

All proposals must be submitted online. Workshop submissions are due by September 16 for consideration, and submission acceptance notifications will be sent no later than September 24. Space is limited!
